Donald Trump plans to erect a triumphal arch in Washington

WASHINGTON.— This Wednesday, the White House officially presented the plans for the president of the United States, Donald Trumpto build a grand triumph arch in washington on the occasion of 250 anniversary of the independence of the countrywhich is commemorated this year.

In her weekly press conference, the White House spokeswoman, Caroline Leavittshowed a rendered image of the project, which will have 250 feet highequivalent to 76.2 meters, for each of the 250 years of the United Statescrowned by a figure of the winged victory and flanked at its base by golden lions.

The Arc de Triomphe of the United States

“In honor of this historic occasion, President Trump and the Department of the Interior will present plans for the Arc de Triomphe of the United Stateswhich will be an architectural masterpiece destined to celebrate our history, right here in Washington,” he declared.

The arch will be erected in a rotunda known as Memorial Circleat one of the entrances to the city, between the Abraham Lincoln Monument and the Arlington National Cemeterythe main military pantheon of the country.

“Long after all of us in this room are gone, our children and grandchildren will continue to be inspired by this national monument,” Leavitt said.

Critics call the idea a vanity project

Trump’s critics have called the initiative vanity project to consolidate his own legacy, in addition to warning of the distortion that it can cause in the urban landscape of the capital.

Since his return to power, Trump, former real estate magnatehas promoted several projects to leave its mark on the city, including the construction of a grand ballroom in the white househis star project.
