IL asks the Government for the “same effort and commitment” in governance as it dedicates to propaganda

The liberal leader also addressed the review of labor law, insisting that the government must take the issue to parliament, after dozens of meetings in social consultation without “even a glimpse of consensus”.

Leitão reiterated that the IL will seek, in the parliamentary discussion, to “make the labor market more flexible” without compromising the safety of workers, but did not provide concrete proposals, highlighting that at this moment the exact point of the document under discussion is not even known.

“It is important that the Government presents us with the final document”he stressed, also stressing that the party sees the “vast majority of things” about which it had reservations as resolved, such as changes to parental rights.

Mariana Leitão also mentioned the meeting that the President of the Republic, António José Seguro, intends to have with the social consultation partners, considering that it will only be useful if a solution to this situation emerges from there.

“If it’s just another meeting and then everything stays the same, sorry, it’s certainly not productive”he considered.

Regarding the replacement of the Secretary of State for Health Management, announced this morning by the Presidency of the Republic, Mariana Leitão said she was unaware of the contours of this change, but argued that “health problems and the way to solve them do not depend on the people who are there, they depend on the policies that are followed”.

“We must not forget that Luís Montenegro said in 2024 that he would solve health problems in 60 days. Two years have passed and we continue to wait”shot.

Regarding the rise in food prices, the IL leader called for a “much more structural” than cyclical response, otherwise, she argued, “every time there is any situation that is not expected”, such as a storm or a war, the country will be “always at the mercy of these fluctuations”.

“It is important that there is an effort on the part of the Government to truly lower taxes, particularly fuel, labor taxes, the IRC itself, to ensure that companies also become more competitive”appealed.
