“I only happened to take cocaine once.”

On June 17, 2025, in Saint-Martin-Labouval, around 1:45 p.m., the gendarmes checked a van with four people inside: a man, a woman and two children. “There were only three seats in the vehicle,” said the president of the court, adding that during the check, the gendarmes discovered that the 23-year-old driver no longer had his driving license and was under the influence of cocaine. “I was separated from my partner. I only happened to take cocaine once and three days later I got behind the wheel,” explains the defendant.

The prosecutor questions him: “You say that there is no addiction, that you only used it once but during the hearing you said that you started a year ago.” “I’m not addicted. I’ve taken it once or twice as a party,” he retorts. It requires, “with regard to personality” (he has already been checked for driving under the influence of drugs), a 100-day fine of ten euros, the withdrawal of the vehicle and the obligation to complete a road safety course. On Friday April 17, the court found him guilty. The 23-year-old defendant receives 140 hours of community service (TIG), confiscation of the vehicle and the obligation to complete a course on drug consumption.

“She’s not a traffic offender.”

“I’m not used to not being in compliance, I panicked,” said a young 28-year-old mother at the bar. On August 4, around 1:35 a.m., the Biars-sur-Cère gendarmes followed the young woman in her vehicle. They warn him to stop. The defendant suddenly accelerates. Over several kilometers, a dangerous chase ensues until she loses the police. “Why did you speed up?” asks the president. “I hadn’t done the vehicle papers, I bought it not long ago. I was afraid that they would immobilize my car,” she asks, uncomfortably. The president insists, explaining that she could have presented the vehicle papers later. “I wasn’t aware of that,” regrets the mother of two children.
