Nations issue security alerts after ‘El Mencho’ falls
The United Kingdom updated its safety sheet for Mexico and included a map of states where it advises against traveling except in essential cases, such as Baja California, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, Michoacán, Guerrero, Colima, Chiapas, Guanajuato and areas of Jalisco. It warns that if a tourist ignores this recommendation, their travel insurance could be invalidated.
France asked its nationals in Jalisco to remain confined for the duration of the operations and frequently report their location, in addition to taking extreme precautions in Michoacán, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Colima, Aguascalientes and Tamaulipas. Germany spoke of riots, roadblocks and arson “in various parts of the country” and insisted on not trying to flee from roadblocks.
Russia requested to postpone trips to Jalisco and avoid crowds; Argentina recommended evaluating whether it is really essential to travel to that state and, if not, reschedule; Ukraine stressed to remain calm and not spread unverified versions. India, for its part, asked its citizens in Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero and Nuevo León to take refuge where they are and limit their movements to a minimum.

The warnings agree that the riots and blockades impact routes to airports such as Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta and may interrupt air operations. They also remember that the emergency number 911 continues to be the main channel for help in Mexican territory.
