When looking for coffee shops around campus, some students stick to Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks, but others venture to locally owned businesses such as Confectionately Yours to get their caffeine fix.

Confectionately Yours is a family run business located less than half a mile away from ENC’s campus at 764 Hancock Street. As their name suggests, they are primarily a bakery; this is also reflected on their coffee menu which features the flavors of baked goods.

The shop can make frozen and blended drinks, but their flavored coffee is where they shine. Their list of coffee flavors is miles-long and includes flavors like cheesecake, tiramisu, and various cookie flavors. “Ugh, I love their Red Velvet!” said student Oksana DiCamillo when asked about the shop. Red Velvet is February’s featured flavor.

If you’re hungry, there are display cases full of muffins, macaroons, whoopie pies, pastries, cupcakes, and much more to choose from. Confectionately Yours states on their website that they hand-make their buttercream frosting every day in the shop, ensuring everything is fresh. Kirsten North says she enjoys their cupcakes, stating they are “moist, [even though] I hate that word,” and that they have “lots of flavors.”

Many students choose to grab a cup of coffee and study at a coffee shop, and Confectionately Yours stacks up against Dunkin’ and Starbucks. Because it’s primarily a bakery, customers typically do not stay, leaving only employees inside. However, they have several tables and chairs and an open, airy environment for students to work in.

Open from 7 am to 6 pm most weekdays and Saturdays, and until 1 pm on Sundays, it is a good daytime study zone, or a good place to grab some coffee and a muffin before classes.

The shop is so close to campus that students could walk by taking either Fenno Street or Merrymount Avenue. Currently, the shop offers a travel mug for $4.99 with a free fill, and subsequent refills for free per visit. The family who runs the shop is incredibly friendly and they provide a free eleventh coffee after ten punches on one of their reward cards.

Quincy is not lacking in coffee shops, but students have options beyond Hebrews and Dunkin. If a new coffee joint is in your future, try Confectionately Yours.
