ENC’s Adult and Graduate Studies Program launched the Professional Speaker Series on September 21. The first topic of the series was “Business and Job Seekers: How to Stand Out in the Crowded Online Market.”

Sean Marshall, an employee of the recruiting company Kforce, was the first speaker. AGS shared that they are now teaming up with Kforce, who will aid current students and alumni in following their career paths. Kforce will assist in helping students to land jobs.

With the new partnership, an expert in the employment field is now available to those connected with ENC providing a ready-made network to take advantage of.

AGS is working to create an environment where local professionals can connect with students over topics that reflect their common goals and interests. People thinking about making a career change can get an edge in their industry and make their name known among different companies.

Adult and Graduate studies will be holding these presentations once a month, except for December. Any local professional can speak on their expertise on a specific topic.

The crowd was small in numbers for the first Speaker Series event, but as the word spreads, the hope is that more people will attend this helpful event. The Coffee Break Cafe sponsored the first event, and AGS hopes to gain more support from local businesses as time progresses.

The next Speaker Series event will be held on October 26, 6 PM, at 180 Old Colony Ave, Quincy. “Dominating your Niche in the Global Marketplace,” presented by Kaitlyn Adams, Global Product Manager at Smith & Nephew will be the next topic of discussion. The objective of the next speaker is to teach about the importance for US companies to build products and launch the products in ways that are receptive to the global market.

The Speaker Series is geared towards Adult and Graduate Studies students, but ENC encourages all that are able to attend as well.
