On or off the court, Senior tennis player Kevin Paterno is always ready to compete. As a student-athlete here, Paterno strives to excel in everything he sets his mind to.

Paterno fell in love with tennis at young age while watching it incessantly on television, becoming quickly captivated by the sport and starting lessons almost immediately.

Paterno emigrated from Buenos Aires, Argentina, just 6 years ago. In Buenos Aires he played tennis for his school team. His experience as youth player allowed him to continue excelling in tennis all the way into college.

When reflecting on his time as a player for ENC’s Men’s Tennis team over the last four years, Paterno is proud of all he has accomplished, and hopes to continue shining this year.

“We are a team going through rebuilding and I do expect us to make the playoffs again like we have for the past six seasons. We need to keep that tradition going,” Paterno said.

Paterno recounts one of his greatest memories as a tennis player being when he was down 5-0 in the first set against Umass Boston. He eventually came back to win the set and dominated the match. Since last season, he has gone 10-7 in single matches and 4-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Paterno is a business management major and is also involved in many on-campus clubs and organizations including the business society.

He will be graduating from ENC this upcoming May and plans on finding a job in the Marketing field. He looks forward to gaining key insight and experience in this desired field.

Paterno’s next match is Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Bridgewater State.
