The Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) women’s basketball team is gearing up for the postseason. After a successful regular season, the Lady Lions are looking to capitalize on their conference seeding.
The Lady Lions will most likely finish in fourth and therefore be able to host the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) playoffs. Women’s basketball head coach Sacha Santimano has faith that the versatility of her players will bode well against other teams in the playoffs.
“Some of our posts can shoot and some of our guards can post,” said Santimano, on the brink of finishing her eighth season as Lady Lions head coach. “We are able to adjust because of our personnel.”
Senior Tia Torio has competed in multiple playoff games throughout her basketball career. As far as seeding goes, Torio believes the team gave up some games when that shouldn’t have happened.
“We dictated our own fate. We came up short in a couple games,” Torio revealed.
Torio and the rest of the team are confident going into the playoffs, hoping to exceed pre-season expectations.
The Lady Lions play their last game of the regular season at home against Newbury College. The NECC playoffs will begin on February 19, with the Lady Lions hosting either Dean College or Newbury College.
